William Rannefeld is a lifelong Texan and a born Austinite. He grew up in the Austin area and the Hill Country, attended Texas State University in San Marcos, and has lived in Texas his entire life. His roots in Central Texas shape his understanding of the people, communities, and challenges facing House District 50.
William has worked in state government at both the Texas Ethics Commission and the Texas Legislative Council, where he gained insight into how government operates, how laws are applied, and the importance of transparency and accountability in public service. His experience helped him see firsthand how policy decisions affect everyday Texans.
In addition to his state government work, William has also served as a federal contractor supporting national security projects. Across both public and private roles, he has focused on responsibility, integrity, and practical problem-solving.
William is running for the Texas House of Representatives to bring thoughtful leadership, real-world experience, and a commitment to listening to the people of House District 50 and working toward solutions that strengthen Texas communities.
The issues I’m fighting for…
-
Opportunity should not depend on one path.
Texas should invest in affordable higher education, community colleges, and workforce training programs. Students deserve real options—whether that’s a four-year degree, trade certification, or technical training—without being buried in debt or locked out by rising costs.
-
Texas should invest in strong public schools, not divert resources away from them.
The Legislature should reject private school voucher programs and instead fully fund public education. Teachers deserve higher pay, smaller class sizes, and the professional freedom to teach critical thinking and real-life skills—not just train students to pass standardized tests.
Strong public schools are essential to student success, workforce readiness, and thriving Texas communities. -
Voting is your voice.
The Legislature should expand early voting, increase polling locations, and simplify voter registration so every eligible Texan can participate. Election laws must protect ballot access while ensuring accurate voter rolls, secure and transparent elections, and strong penalties for voter intimidation, misinformation, and election interference. -
Texans deserve reliable, affordable energy—and a power grid that works.
The Legislature must stop shifting the cost of grid failures onto Texans through long-term surcharges added after the 2021 blackout.
Lawmakers should modernize aging infrastructure, connect our grid to the national system for emergencies, and invest in clean energy, storage, and efficiency to lower costs while protecting our air, land, and water for future generations.
-
Healthcare is a public safety issue.
The Legislature’s role is to act as a public safety and healthcare access guarantor.
That includes ensuring emergency care within 30 minutes statewide, protecting and expanding rural hospitals, strengthening emergency infrastructure, and allowing doctors and nurses to provide evidence-based, lifesaving care without fear of punishment or losing their licenses. -
Personal decisions should stay personal.
The government should not interfere in private medical or personal decisions.
Texans deserve the freedom to live their lives without politicians inserting themselves into family matters, healthcare decisions, or personal choices that should be made between individuals and professionals they trust. -
Public safety is about protecting people, not politics.
The Legislature should support first responders, invest in emergency preparedness, and focus on policies that keep communities safe while respecting constitutional rights.
Texans deserve safe neighborhoods, effective emergency response, and laws that are enforced fairly and responsibly. -
Texans are feeling the squeeze from rising costs and property taxes.
The Legislature should focus on real tax relief for homeowners and renters, not giveaways for large corporations.
Property taxes should be fair, predictable, and transparent so families aren’t priced out of their homes while big interests get special treatment.
